My wife and I both work from home on Mondays with her in the office upstairs and myself on the sofa in the living room. It’s a silly thing, but whenever I hear her sneeze, I always like to yell out “Bless you!” across the entire dang house, and then she responds in kind with “Thank you!”
Tonight I hit my cycling mileage goal for the year: 5500 miles/8851 km. I’m on pace to surpass last year’s total (6500 miles/10461 km) in 5-6 weeks!
New set of Velocity Cliffhanger wheels just arrived with a dynamo up front. Wrapped them in some Ultradynamico Rose Robusto tires.
Now I just need to get to Saturday so I can ride on them outside instead of all this Zwift nonsense while it rains 😜

Olympics TV in my household is dominated by gymnastics and swimming, but this morning I got to watch Kristin Faulkner absolutely TEAR UP the last few kilometers of the women’s road race. What a gold medal finish! Her lead expanded the whole time between her breakaway and the finish line!

I just had 2 invitations for me to interview people over lunch on two separate days. “Hey, come work here! You’ll probably have lunch meetings most days because nobody cares enough to try finding a more appropriate time!”

Finding myself in a position for, perhaps, the first time: I am both (I think) the most senior person remaining in my role at my job and also seems my employer is really anxious about keeping me around. There’s a LOT of turmoil at my employer, so I have mixed feelings about this.

Thing one: I watched Evil Dead II for the first time this week. Terrifically silly, not really my thing, but inventive and enjoyable while viewing.

Oh, yeah, no. I love when a neighbor half a block away selfishly blasts music over a PA for a party in their backyard. Yeah, seriously - my favorite is when it continues and gets louder after 8 PM when my kids are trying to go to bed. It’s seriously the best.
Not quite halfway through June, and I just realized that I crossed 4000 miles for the year so far 😳
That’s uh…that’s a lot more riding than I expected (last year’s total was just over 6500).
I was pretty tired today but the weather is incredible: dry, breezy, and sunny. So of course I went riding, but I wanted to take it easy. No pressure to get any distance or elevation, and why not take my DSLR? I was near immediately rewarded by the above sight—a bike absolutely dripping with character (and bones and doll parts).
Otherwise, I just sort of meandered around neighborhoods and through alleyways, not working too hard, taking the occasional photo. A good time was had by me!
